As a contractor for FairVote in the Fall of 2019, I learned how important it is to have groups like them that are dedicated to the betterment of our democracy. Through research and advocacy, FairVote makes a stellar case for why our democracy needs reform and how we should reform it.
The League OF Women Voters
Through all my time in activism, I have been impressed by the selfless dedication of League of Women Voters members to the civic health of their society. At community events across the country, you can find Leaguers registering voters, sharing literature on important local issues, and advocating for fairer democracies.
The Sierra Club
One of my favorite campaign memories is driving to Springfield with the Ebel for Congress team to court the Sierra Club’s endorsement. I knew when we left the meeting that, if elected, the Sierra Club would keep our team accountable for the promises we made. Now, the Sierra Club’s work is more important than ever. With the looming threat of climate change and the loss of natural space, the Sierra Club is one of far too few courageous voices for conservation and preservation.
The American Civil Liberties Union
Whether they’re defending the rights of refugees or advocating for the constitutional rights of citizens, the American Civil Liberties Union is devoted to protecting our democracy. When the ACLU takes on a case, they aren’t taking their own politics into account, they’re protecting the rights of all Americans.
